The Story of Basavaraj
Basavaraj, 46, has faced unimaginable challenges, yet continues to support his family by selling vegetables, traveling 31 miles each day with his wife on their two-wheeler to reach various markets. At just 21 years old, Basavaraj was bitten by a snake. Although he received initial treatment, complications arose two years later, leading to severe infections that ultimately required the amputation of toes on his left foot. Since then, medical bills have weighed heavily on the family, leaving them unable to afford a prosthetic limb.
With Equip India’s support, Basavaraj received a prosthetic limb that has restored his mobility and independence. “Thanks to Equip India, I can stand again, ride my two-wheeler, and sell vegetables to support my family. The past two years have been incredibly difficult,” Basavaraj shares.
Equip India’s support brought relief and hope back to their lives. “Equip India is like family to us. They restored our happiness,” Manjula adds, expressing the renewed sense of stability and hope they now feel.
