The leadership at Equip India Charitable Trust (EICT) is a dedicated group of individuals committed to the vision of creating a disability-inclusive society. Our leaders bring vast expertise in disability services, community rehabilitation, and non-profit management. They steer the organization with passion and integrity, ensuring that every action taken serves the mission of uplifting people with disabilities across rural India.
Under their guidance, EICT has become a beacon of hope, delivering life-changing services to thousands of children, youth, and women with disabilities.
Founders
Equip India Charitable Trust was founded by Tim and Aruna Swauger in 1997, who envisioned an inclusive society where people with disabilities have access to the tools, education, and opportunities needed to lead independent lives. Their vision continues to shape the organization today.
Tim Swauger
With an MBA in NGO Management, Tim Swauger co-founded Equip India Charitable Trust to respond to the vast need for disability services in rural India. His commitment to empowering people with disabilities and establishing sustainable, long-term programs has been integral to Equip India’s growth.
Aruna Swauger
Aruna Swauger holds a B.A., B.Ed., and a post-graduate degree in Community-Based Rehabilitation. Her passion for education and rehabilitation is evident in the design of Equip India’s various programs that focus on creating opportunities for people with disabilities to achieve independence.
Current Leadership
Anthony joined Equip India in 2006 as a Construction Manager, overseeing the development of the Equip India Rehabilitation Center. His role soon expanded as he led overseas donor communications and strategic partnerships. With a Post Graduate Diploma in Human Resources and a background in international customer service operations, Anthony’s leadership focuses on building sustainable partnerships that advance disability inclusion across India. His primary goal is to train and equip other like-minded organizations and individuals to replicate Equip India’s successful models in their own communities.
Anthony is deeply committed to advancing the cause of people with disabilities and plays a key role in ensuring that Equip India remains at the forefront of disability services in India. Under his leadership, the organization has expanded its reach, formed new partnerships, and increased the number of beneficiaries served.
Personal Life: Anthony is married to Shilpa, who also serves as Program Director at Equip India’s sister concern, St. Francis Trust. They have two children, a son and a daughter.
Board of Trustees
Equip India’s Board of Trustees is composed of dedicated Indian nationals who are committed to the trust’s mission of disability empowerment. The board ensures that the trust’s operations are aligned with its core values of compassion, integrity, and inclusion. The trustees provide governance, oversight, and strategic direction to ensure that Equip India remains a transparent, effective, and sustainable organization.
Their collective experience spans various sectors, including education, healthcare, and non-profit management. This wealth of expertise allows the board to guide Equip India in its mission to reach more people with disabilities, ensuring that its programs remain relevant and impactful.
